Types Of Canadian Work Permit
Canada offers two types of work permits. These include:
- Open Work Permit
- Employer-specific work permit
Under open work permit, you can work with any type of Canadian employer except those who have been considered ineligible by the Canadian authorities or those who offer services like erotic massages, erotic dances, and striptease or erotic services.
Under employer-specific work permit, you get the permit and permission to work depending upon the conditions that are mentioned on the work permit. It includes the employer’s name, duration of your work and the location where you will be working.

Eligibility For Open Work Permit for Canada
You can become eligible for an open work permit in Canada only if you fulfill either of the following conditions. Eligibility is considered for working in Canada if you:
- As an international student is eligible for Canada’s Post-Graduation Work Permit Program after graduating from a learning institution designated in the list
- Are destitute student unable to fulfill the cost of your studies
- Are being abused or face the risk of getting abused in your job in the country after gaining entry in Canada through an employer-specific work permit
- Have forwarded application for permanent residence in the country
- Are part of the family in which a family member has applied for permanent residence in Canada
- Are an international student, skilled worker’s common-law partner or spouse
- Are common-law partners or spouse of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program’s applicant
- Are a refugee claimant, a refugee or a family member or a protected person
- Are the holder of temporary resident permit
- Come under an unenforceable removal order
- A part of a team working in special programs
Common Work Permit Eligibility Criteria For All Applicants
Irrespective of the type of work permit you are applying for working in Canada it is important that you:
- Convince the immigration department of leaving the country after the expiry of your work permit
- Offer enough evidence to prove that you carry enough financial aid needed for caring for yourself as well as members of your family while in Canada
- Have always been on the right side of the law with no criminal activity record
- Are not to cause any danger to the security of Canada
- Have conducted a medical examination proving your good health
- Are not planning to tie-up with ineligible employers as listed by Canada immigration department
- Are ready to produce documents deemed necessary by the officials
Fulfilling Application Process
