Qualifying For Yukon Provincial Nominee Program (YPNP)
To qualify for the YPNP an applicant will have to become eligible for any of the three streams listed below. All the successful applicants are then given a Yukon Provincial Nominee Certificate that helps in speeding up the process for Canada Immigration Visa Application or Permanent Resident. These three streams are:
- Yukon Canada Express Entry
- Business Program
- Skilled Worker Program
1. Yukon Express Entry Program
It works in tandem with the Express Entry program of Canada. To qualify through this stream you must:
- Associate with Express Entry pool
- Hold a valid job offer
- Meet minimum requirements for income
- Express desire to live in Yukon permanently
Once you qualify for Express Entry, you become eligible for Federal Skilled Trades, Federal Skilled Worker, and the Canadian experience class.
2. Business Program
The Business Program is divided into two categories:
- Entrepreneur
- Self-Employed professional
Entrepreneur
To qualify under this category through Business Program, you must:
- Invest minimum $150,000 CDN equity for buying or starting a business venture
- Visit the province at least one time before submitting the application
- Be fluent in French or English to carry basic communication in Yukon
- Possess required education as well as experience for executing the business plan successfully
Self-Employed Professional
To get entry through this program you must:
- Fulfill accreditation or certification requirement deemed necessary for a particular occupation or profession
- Should have an occupation or profession listed in the country’s professional skill shortage list
- Present a business plan in detail
- Have adequate financial resources for starting and operating the profession
- Be good in basic communication in either French or English or both
- Visit Yukon at least once before presenting the project application
3. Skilled Worker Program
This program is divided into two categories that include:
- Skilled Worker
- Critical Impact Worker
Skilled Worker Category
To work under the skilled worker category in Yukon you must:
- Have a permanent full-time offer of a job from an employer in Yukon in an occupation that comes under NOC A, B, 0.
- Be accepted or have a license acceptable to the Territorial body that governs your kind of trade
- Not be a refugee claimant
- Be able to conduct communication in Canada’s official languages-French/English
Critical Impact Worker Category
For qualifying under this category you must:
- Have a full-time permanent job offer in an occupation that comes under C or D levels in the list of NOC
- Possess work permit and have experience of working in the same position for the last 6 months
- Have adequate financial resources to support your settlement in Yukon
- Have required work experience and not be a refugee claimant
- Be fluent in either English or French or both
