Applying for travelling to Europe during COVID crisis will have its own immigration obstacles, but its not insurmountable. So, if you are applying for a visa to Europe, you will have to submit a few required documents as part of the Schengen Visa application process.
Each Schengen State has listed a few pre-requisites for each purpose of entry in this territory. These requirements are similar to the documents that are required for staying in these states. Listed below is a detailed checklist of the requirements for each category of visa.
Requirements When applying for a Schengen Visa-
- Completed visa application with two passport size photographs
- A valid passport, not older than 10 years.
- Round trip reservation and itinerary, which should include the flight details, accommodation details and free consultation over email
- Travel insurance showing that you have enough money (approx. euro 30000) in case of medical emergencies
- Proof of financial support, showing that the traveller has enough money in his bank account to sustain in the country he plans to visit.This would include bank account statements of the past 3 months, a sponsorship letter if the traveller is being sponsored, a bank statement of the sponsorer,
- Proof of paid visa fee, depending on the age of the traveller and his companions
Schengen Visa requirements as per applicant’s employment status
- For newly appointed employees:
- Current bank statement for the past 6 months
- ITR form and TDS forms
- Leave permission from the employer
- Employment contract
Schengen Visa Requirements For the self-employed
- A copy of business license
- ITR
- Company bank statement for the last 6 months
Schengen Visa Requirement For students
- Proof of enrollment
- NOC from university or school
Schengen Visa Requirement For retirees:
Pension statement of the latest 6 months
Schengen Visa Requirements Unemployed and married to an EU citizen
- Letter of confirmation from the spouse’s employer about his/her employment
- Spouse’s valid passport
- An official marriage certificate
Schengen Visa Requirement for minors
- Birth certificate
- Application form signed by both the parents
- Family court order if one parent has full court custody
- Certified copies of ID/Passport of both the parents
- A notarized parental authorization from both the parents if he is travelling alone
Schengen Visa Requirements Change with Purpose of Visit as well
The visa requirements change with the purpose of the visit to the region. Additional documents would be required if you are visiting a friend or a relative, during airport transit, for tourist visa, business visa, training visa, medical visa, travelling to join a spouse residing in EU, travelling to participate in an event.
Airport transit:
The applicant has to produce the tickets for the final country, he is planning to visit and a valid visa for the same. If the traveller is visiting a relative, but does not have enough funds to sponsor his travel, he should produce a document of sponsorship from the relative residing in the region. The applicant is required to write about the trip, the places he would visit and the purpose of his stay, along with the time duration.
Documents for a training visa:
The additional certificates that might be asked to produce include the enrolment certificate and a no objection letter from the educational institution where the visa applicant is currently enrolled.
Medical visa for Schengen Countries:
This would require a letter from the doctor of the home country, stating that the applicant needs medical treatment, official confirmation of the treatment or appointment by the receiving medical institution in EU, proof of financial means to pay medical expenses and other related expenses throughout the treatment, which can be supported by bank account statements, letter of sponsorships, proof of advanced payments of the treatment and a verbal note from the Ministry of Health of the applicant’s home country stating that they are willing to bear the covered expenses required for the treatment.
