This announcement came as a massive relief to the new immigrants as IRCC also issued the funds of $798,806 to the OCSS to facilitate the same.
Mr. Sukh Dhaliwal, MP for Surrey-Newton, made this announcement public on behalf of the Minister of IRCC, Mr. Ahmed Hussein. OCSS has partnered with social design and research firm InWithForward to facilitate the exclusive service provider for the senior citizens and the newcomers with some degree of disability to bridge the gap between the vulnerable groups of the society.
Services are for Newcomers to collaborate-
Many services are available to help newcomers in Settling in Canada and the project will bring forward the newcomers to participate in the focus groups and test various methodologies with them in consideration. Mr. Hussein praised the efforts of IRCC to bring the newer individuals in sync with the Canadian standards of living and settlement and said partnering with a creative organization like OCSS is a welcome step in the process.
Service Delivery Investment Fund (SDI) has funded the Services to improve-
IRCC’s Service Delivery Investment Fund(SDI) has been providing funds of over $30 million per year to develop, innovate and experiment with their service delivery model. To reach out to every concerned individual in their settlements and integration with their respective Communities with ease.
Dhaliwal ended by thanking SDI in their efforts to ease and facilitate service delivery to the new immigrants with the projects like OCSS, thereby helping in understanding the needs of the immigrants also providing a way to assimilate in the Canadian Communities.
A brief look into SDI:
1) SDI funding is mainly for settlement purposes of over 150 million for the five years focused on providing the better, more comfortable and more alluring settlement designs for the immigrants. Allocation of the funding is with IRCC under the IMMIGRATION LEVELS PLAN,2017.
2) Since the launch of SDI, IRCC has been funding over 100 projects in the country, all of which are expected to conclude by March 31,2021.
3) Further SDI is divided into seven funding streams:
- Language acquisition
- Employment
- Youth supports
- Volunteers in the settlement sector.
- Pay for performance
- New-comer well being and programming to support vulnerable clients.
- Research and analysis to drive innovation and understand user experience
