CRS changes from 19th November, 2016—Let us see CRS changes from 19th November, 2016. This was revealed by Canada immigration minister. These changes are being discussed here. It will impact candidates applying or aspiring to apply for Canada immigration through federal programs.
Major Changes to Canada Permanent Residency Applications Under Express Entry
Changes to CRS—
- IRCC(Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has reduced the points to be given to a candidate for a qualifying job offer supported by an LMIA. These points are 200 or 50 depending on the position held by the employee.
- Workers in Canada on Canada skilled work permits with named employers can get points for a qualifying job offer. This will enable individuals to get points for a qualifying job offer without any need to get an LMIA.
- Points available for a qualifying offer of job shall be 50 or 200 depending on the occupation with most senior management level occupations getting 200 points. Other skilled positions shall get 50 points.
- Candidates shall get additional points for completing a Canada study program.
- Job offers shall need to be a minimum of one year after the applicants get Canada permanent residency. Changing the job offer requirement from permanent to one year means more high-skilled candidates working in contract-based industries shall have a greater probability of getting an invitation to apply for permanent residency.
- Points for job offers shall be reduced. 50 points for those having a valid job offer in NOC (National Occupational Classification) O, A or B occupation. A total of 200 points shall be given to candidates having a valid job offer in an NOC 00 occupation.
- Points shall be given for study in Canada above high school. The CRS shall give 15 points for a one/two year diploma/certificate. 30 points shall be for a degree/diploma/certificate of three years or higher including a master’s/professional/doctoral degree.
