Japan to bring more workers for nursing homes, construction projects—Japan will bring more workers for nursing homes and construction projects. Yes. It aims to allow more workers for understaffed nursing homes. Also, more workers will be brought for 2020 Tokyo Olympics construction projects in Japan.

Increased number of foreign students to be allowed in Japan—Japan will increase the number of foreign students to stay here. This will be after successful completion of their studies there. As of now, nearly 30 percent of foreign students stay in Japan after study completion. The aim is to increase the percentage to 50 percent.

Social changes needed for bringing skilled foreigners—Social changes are needed in Japan for bringing in increased skilled foreigners. As of now, Japan firms and society does not have required structures for accepting foreign workers.

Japan has difficult immigration rules for foreigners to get work permits. Another barrier is difficulties in learning Japanese language. Moreover, getting accustomed and adjusted to Japanese culture is yet another difficulty.

It was in 2012 that process for giving Japan permanent residency to high skilled professionals started. Till 2015, 4,347 foreigners availed the benefit of the program. This was revealed by Japan Ministry of Justice. The fact that only few skilled professionals availed of the benefit is that Japan is not attractive place for living permanently.
