New Canada biometric tests announced for foreign travellers—Canada PM Stephen Harper has announced expansion of Canada biometric screening for foreign nationals coming to Canada on a Canada visa from 150 nations.

Fingerprints, photographs within 30 days from Canada visitor visa, study and work permit applicants—Canada immigration department CIC has stated that all applicants for Canada visitor visas, Canada study visa and Canada work visas from affected nations shall be required to submit photographs and fingerprints within a period of 30 days of submission of their application.
Who are exempted from new Canada biometric requirements?—Well, it needs to be noted that if you happen to be less than 14 years or more than 80 years, a diplomat or representative of a nation or on official business visit, the US or any intergovernmental agency involving Canada or you are making an application for moving through Canada for a period of less than 48 hours and are moving directly from the US, then you are exempted from new Canada biometric rules.
Cost of new biometric requirements for applicants—A biometric fee of $85 for each person is needed in addition to the application fee. Meanwhile, the CIC has clarified that this fee shall be now extended to foreigners from new nations added to the list.
For families applying together, a maximum fee will be of $170 for biometric screening.
