International students Denied Canada Work Permits due to Online Courses
Canada, 20th July: Foreign students who successfully completed their online courses in Canada were not given work permits to work in Canada.
Reason? Simply because they had taken online study courses in Canada.
Canada work permits denied to international students of online courses—Canada work permits were denied to international students who had joined online study courses in Canada.
Canada immigration department CIC(Citizenship and Immigration Canada) said that joining online study courses is considered to be distance learning.
As per the details, more than 50 foreign students were not getting Canada post-graduate work permits for working in Canada. Their applications for Canada post-graduate work permits were facing problems for getting processed.

Details of the issue—As per the details, foreign students denied Canada work permits for working in Canada hail from Niagara College. They had completed their general arts and sciences program from Niagara College. These students are from India and already have graduation
Applications for Canada post-graduate work permits of 30 students have been rejected already. And its being feared that 25 students’ Canada post-graduate work permit applications are likely to be rejected by Canada immigration department CIC.
CIC gives clarification–It may be worth notable in this regard that although Canada immigration department had been issuing Canada post-graduate work permits to many foreign students in the past, but the reason why it is refusing Canada work permits now is because some part of the coursework by students was done online. Hence, CIC considers them ineligible for Canada work permits(as its considered to be distance learning).
Official spokesperson for CIC, Nancy Caron, stated that foreign students finishing their study programs through distance learning, irrespective of the fact whether its outside or inside Canada, are not deemed to be eligible for Canada post-graduate work permit.
It needs to be further notable that CIC considers and assesses Canada work permit applications on the basis of each individual case. It is made sure that Canada’s best interests are kept in mind while doing so.
Canada post-graduate work permits—Canada post-graduate work permits are meant for enabling work in Canada for a maximum period of up to three years. These are for foreign students who have successfully finished their graduate study courses in Canada.
