What would be the new price for entering Australia as migrants—As per David Leyonhjelm, Liberal Democrat Senator, $50,000 would be the potential fees for choosing foreigners wanting to enter Australia.
Entry fees might act as the primary determining factor for Australia immigration as per the proposal being reviewed by the Productivity Commission.
What simply means is that Australia visa reforms would mean handing over of Australia visas to the wealthy foreigners. That’s because richest foreigners could buy their way into Australia. No family connections or work skills of migrants would be considered to allowing entry into Australia. It would be only their ability to pay for getting selected for Australia immigration.
Australia’s Productivity Commission is currently probing the latest Australia immigration proposal. It will be discussing a couple of issues including scrapping of Australia immigration caps and allowing a special price for determining the intake among others.
Meanwhile, the issue paper maintains that charging for entry into Australia may be opposing with fairness or equity objectives.
Business unions, groups criticize new Australia immigration proposals—New proposals are receiving criticism from different business groups and business unions. They allege that tackling shortages of skills in Australia need to be the main objective of Australia immigration scheme.
Meanwhile, the paper has two proposals for introduction of an Australia immigration fee. These include setting a price or setting a cap on the annual intake and setting the price on the basis of demand for entry into Australia.
