Farah, Shirish join Shah Rukh in Australia
Mumbai — An Australian holiday is just what the doctor ordered for hardworking Bollywood couple Farah Khan and husband Shirish Kunder, especially when good friend Shah Rukh Khan is already there to help them unwind.
Far from being daunted by the mixed reviews for Kunder’s debut film “Jaan-e-Mann”, Khan has whisked hubby away for a 10-day break Down Under.
“We both need to unwind and then return to work. My next film – ‘Om Shanti Om’ – is well into the end of its post-production phase. Shirish, too, is about to zero in on his next project. Once we’re back, we’ll both get going with no time at all to even look at each other,” Khan told IANS.
The couple will join up with Shah Rukh, who is currently in Australia shooting a hockey match with director Shimit Amin for “Chak De”.
“We’ll spend four days with Shah Rukh and then cruise down the Gold Coast all on our own. We need this time together. We didn’t even get time to have a proper honeymoon. We had just three days together. We owe each other this time together,” Khan said just before leaving.
In her absence, a Rs.15 million set depicting Mumbai in the 1970s will be erected for Khan’s film featuring Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone.
“The film ‘Om Shanti Om’ will be a very tough and expensive one. I’m preparing for a long battle ahead. But the comforting thought is Shah Rukh’s presence. He and Deepika will make as much of a rocking pair as him and Sushmita in ‘Main Hoon Na’.”
The dance choreographer-turned-filmmaker was surprised to get a call from none other than director Mukesh Bhatt.
She said: “When he said Shirish’s was the best directorial debut he had seen in the last 45 years, my day was made. Mukesh-ji had nothing to gain by saying this. We aren’t working together. He didn’t have to, but he did.”
Khan has just choreographed a song for her brother Sajid Khan’s film “Hey Baby”. “But I don’t know if I can do other songs for him. Once I get busy with my own film, I won’t have the time,” she added.
