Ajay Devgan Urges Citizens to Clean Up the Country
MUMBAI: Famous for its rich heritage and ancient monuments, India is perhaps just as well-known for its trash-strewn streets; a fact that a Bollywood star is working to change.
Actor Ajay Devgan is starring in a short film urging fellow citizens to stop littering and clean up the country.
The movie, titled “The Awakening,” is to start airing soon on television and in theaters before the main attraction.
According to Devgan, the film has a simple message- Indians should keep the streets as clean as their homes.
“Just as we don’t litter our homes throwing dirt around, we should use the dustbins outside instead of throwing things around on the road,” Devgan said.
The trash situation is so bad in his home town, Bombay, that flooding there last week left houses filled with sewage, providing filmmakers with plenty of material to shoot for the film.
Many in Bombay blame flooding that almost every year accompanies the annual monsoon on storm drains blocked by trash, and Devgan warns,
“This could happen to your city too. So it’s time we begin caring for it.”
It’s a good step taken by Devgan, so let us all hope that he is successful in awakening Indian citizens.
