According to a new proposal on Canadian immigration, applications for visa from people from countries which are thought to be safe would be fast tracked. In an attempt to make the immigration process of Canada faster, the Conservatives are working towards a reform that would make visa system of Canada more like that of British.
If the reform is through then it will change the system in a way that visa applicants from some pre-determined countries which are assumed to be ‘safe’ will be able to come to Canada in lesser time. This would put some pressure off the resources which would ultimately allow even other applicants to have a decision on their visa application more quickly.
The reform would empower Immigration Officers to hand out a judgment on the claims, which was earlier done by the Immigration and Refugee board.
Immigration Minister of Canada Jason Kenney declined to give out details of the reform, but described the fast-track proposal in his way.
Kenney said that the reform is the proposal of one dominant idea which is certainly worth consideration. He said that successive governments have shown a great deal of caution on this issue and all for good reason.
