Moderate quake hits eastern Indonesia

Jakarta -- A 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit eastern part of Indonesia Friday, the Indonesian Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said. No casualty was reported.

The quake struck at 13:19 local time (06.19 GMT) with epicentre 51 km southeast Maluku province and 33 km under seabed, said an official of the agency Edi Santoso.

Indonesian is laid on a vulnerable quake-hit zone that called "the Pacific Rim of Fire", where continental plates meet causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
