Mary Tecson, Employment Counselor of the Immigration Services Society of British Columbia says, “Construction Industry is booming in British Columbia while the oil industry is doing well in Alberta.”

Tecson added, “Yung mga Philipino gusto white collar jobs and gusto nasa office lagi, Lahatdoon nagpupuntahan Maganda kasi yung i-explore nila yung other sectors.”

According to Tescon the big question and chllaenge for the new immigrants lies in applying their knowledge to the Labor market.

He says so as the skill which the new immigrants have learnt in their home countries hold little significance to what they are supposed to do here in Canada.

To bridge the gap between their previous knowledge and the skill required here, Skills Connect for Immigrants plays a major role. The organisation has the social responsibility of training up new immigrants as per the requirement of the market.
