Canada lawyers might oppose immigration backlog decision

The government of Canada had announced axing nearly 300,000 applications for Canada skilled worker visas received before 2008. And this will mean refunding funds to the tune of $130 million applicants for Canada skilled worker visas.

Canada immigration lawyers up in arms—The move by Canada government is likely to be opposed by Canada immigration lawyers. Several immigration advisers and immigration consultants intend to protest the government’s ruling to deny applicants the chance to come to Canada.

By eliminating all such applicants, Canada government seems to be thanking applicants for applying, paying fees, waiting for nearly eight long years in an inefficient immigration processing system.

It is not for the first time that Canada government’s actions are attracting criticism from immigration lawyers. In fact earlier in the year 2003, Canada government was prohibited from making reforms aimed to eliminate backlog of applications through a lawsuit by immigration lawyers.

Flooded with applicants for legal action against federal government--Canada immigration lawyers are overwhelmed with the number of applicants seeking a legal resolution to their predicament following decision by the federal government.

There is no logic in meting out unfair steps to foreign nationals. So, it is natural for nearly 280,000 applicants whose applications will be culled to seek legal action against the federal government.

Nearly 100 applicants are ready to give a legal challenge to the recent scrapping of Canada skilled worker visa applications by Canada government.

They have approached Lorne Waldman, an immigration lawyer based in Toronto, Canada. Waldman affirmed of proceeding with a legal suit against the government after going through details.

Such an act by the government of Canada in eliminating thousands of applications under Canada skilled worker visa category will put a question mark on the image of immigration advisors, says Michael Niren, an immigration attorney offering immigration services for prospective immigrants to Canada.

Niren said the reputation of Canada being an open and a fair nation for immigration will, no longer, seem to be true. In the eyes of Canadian government, treating immigrants like a stock on a shelf might seem fair, but such a thing will not be tolerated, he affirmed.
