Nearly 8,100 business migrants were given entry in Canada in the year 2003. In the year 2005-2006, the target of government was to welcome anything between 9,500 to 10,500 Canada business immigrants.

There are three categories:
Investor Immigrant Visas: These visas are targeted towards those who are successful senior level executives along with good managerial experience or who are successful owners/part-owners having intention as well as ability to make investments in Canada for a period of 5 years;
Entrepreneur Immigrant Visa: These visas are targeted at those who are successful owners/part-owners along with noteworthy business experience and who have the ability and the intention to own and manage any business in Canada which is instrumental in generating employment and revenues;
Self-Employed Immigrant Visa: These visas are targeted at those people who have relevant experience in cultural activities or world-class athletics/sports or farm management and who also have the ability and intention to attain self-employment in Canada;
